ANNUAL REPORT OF ACTIVITIES

MISSION 5
a students’ initiative
to help the disabled and deprived by collecting Rs. 5/-
[started - 2nd Feb 2007 ]



ANNUAL REPORT of MISSION 5 [FEB 2007–FEB 2008]:-


1. FEBRUARY 2007 :-
-- 200 notebooks, 30 pencils and 45 pens to the orphans and poor children of
St. Antony's School, Bosconagar.
-- 4 school bags, 3 lunch baskets, medical check-up and medicines, 2 drinking water cans to Jeevitha Anathashram, an orphanage at Anandpura.
-- 2000 Braille papers to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.


2. MARCH 2007 :-
-- Muniyamma, an old lady, 90, abandoned by her family, living on the road for 4 yrs, with a fractured arm and a leg, at Bhattarahalli, was helped by Mission 5.
-- For 25 days [11 March – 05 April ’07], a group of 12 students, built a small shelter for her and provided her food, a set of clothes, a bed, medicines, etc.
-- 4 carrom-boards and 4 ludo-boards to Jeevitha Anathashram, an orphanage.
2000 Braille papers to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.
-- 80 notebooks, 80 pens, 80sharpeners, 80erasers, 80 pencils, 80 rulers to 2007 batch of Std. X, a total of 80 students at St. Anthony’s School, Bosconagar.
-- Concept stage of 3HELP 1CHILD – a project to help educate poor children.


3. APRIL 2007 :-
-- 3HELP 1CHILD – a month-long survey with Shishu Mandir, identified 20 poor children, most of them orphans or single-parent, from across 6 villages, to be sent to St. Anthony’s School, Bosconagar, for education.
-- 3 persons if donate Rs 50/- every month for 10 calendar months, can help sponsor the educational expenses of 1 child.
-- 2000 Braille papers to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.
-- Muniyamma passed away following a serious illness on 5th April.


4. MAY 2007 :-
-- Rs. 30,458/- for Padma Bhattarcharya, a 9-yr-old, who lost her left arm due to electric shock at KR Puram. A 5-DAY collection drive at 4 colleges & The Hindu office raised this sum to help her family pay the hospital expenses of 2 lakh.
-- 6 documentaries titled THIRSTY PLANET, on Global Warming screened in 2 series.
-- SAY NO TO PLASTIC – made PAPER BAGS, distributed them for free to students.
-- Planted 16 TREE SAPLINGS with school children at Shishu Mandir, Hella Nagar.


5. JUNE 2007 :-
-- Planted 17 SAPLINGS with schoolchildren at Samuel Public School, Hellanagar.
-- A carrom board to Padma, to make her stay at home interesting.
-- 3000 Braille papers to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.


6. JULY 2007 :-
-- Organised a picnic for the children of Jeevitha Anathashram, Anandapura.


7. AUGUST 2007 :-
-- 23 pairs of slippers, one each to all the children of Jeevith Anthashram.
-- Identified and donated study materials to all 115 orphans and single-parent children studying at St. Anthony’s School.
-- 2000 Braille papers to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.
Screened 2 films - Gandhi My Father & An Inconvenient Truth at GCC auditorium.


8. SEPTEMBER 2007 :-
-- 20 blankets, one each to all 20 elderly members of Sree Sai Vrudhashram & Mentally Retarded, KR Puram.
-- 2000 Braille papers to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.
-- Donated study materials to all 21 children studying under 3 HELP 1 CHILD.
-- Included Bablu, from Jeev. Anathashram in 3HELP 1CHILD. Total 22 children.
-- Screened Tsunami – The Aftermath, a documentary at GCC auditorium.
-- Planted 15 SAPLINGS with schoolchildren at New Indus Resid. School, TC Palya.


9. OCTOBER 2007 :-
-- A blood-sugar testing kit worth 1650/- to Sai Krupa Vrudhashram & Home for Mentally Retarded, Kithiganur.
-- 2000 Braille papers, old clothes to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.
-- 10-kg rice & 50-kg rice to elderly homes at Kithiganur & KR Puram respectively.
-- Donated 5 towels and 3 floor mats to Jeevitha Anathashram.
-- Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara & Lage Raho Munna Bhai, films on Gandhi Jayanti.


10. NOVEMBER 2007 :-
-- 50-kg rice and Rs. 1000/- to put mosquito net, to the Old-age Home,at Kithiganur.
-- 2000 Braille papers to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.
-- Clothes [undergarments] to a few children at Jeevitha Anthashram.
-- Planted 15 tree saplings with schoolchildren at St. Anthony’s School, Bosconagar.


11. DECEMBER 2007 :-
-- 23 sweaters, one each to all children at Kannada Adarsha Mahila Sanstha, an orphanage at Parvati Nagar.
-- 5-kg wheat flour, 20-kg pulses and 50-kg rice to K.A.M.S.
-- 22 water mugs to the children at Jeevitha Anathashram, an orphanage.
-- Donated 50-kg rice to the elderly home at Kithganur.
-- 2000 Braille papers, old clothes to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.


12. JANUARY 2008 :-
-- New branch of Mission5 started at Kristu Jayanti College, Narayanpura, Bangalore.
-- Started with New Year celebration at Infant Jesus Children Home [HIV}, Kothanur.
-- 10-kg rice & 50-kg rice to the elderly homes at KR Puram and Kithiganur resptvly.
-- 2000 Braille papers to Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Indiranagar.
-- Notebooks and slates to the children of Kannada Adarsha Mahila Sanstha.
-- CNN IBN, an English News Channel, nominates Mission5 as one of the best CITIZEN HERO INITIATIVES from across India and telecasted on Republic day.
We thus complete one year of service to the disabled and deprived by collecting Rs. 5/-
